About Us

Denfind Stone is one of Scotland’s premier suppliers of natural walling stone, delivering quality products in a variety of stone types to suit your project.

Our Story

Denfind Stone was established in 2004 when Brian and Alison Binnie recognised the potential of a disused Angus sandstone quarry on their farm to meet growing demand for high-quality, natural, and sustainable stone. Historically, Pitairlie Quarry sat at the heart of the Angus sandstone industry, supplying projects across the UK and internationally before production ceased in 1915 as demand declined.

Since reopening the quarry, the business has grown into a modern operation, relocating to a purpose-built production facility equipped with advanced stone processing machinery. Today, Denfind Stone produces an extensive range of natural stone products while remaining fundamentally Scottish in its values, with a strong commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and exceptional customer care.
In 2004, we reopened the 19th-century Pitairlie Quarry to restore the Angus sandstone industry that once supplied superior stone across the world. The business has expanded to become one of Scotland’s leading suppliers of quality natural stone.

Our Team

The Denfind Stone team is committed to delivering exceptional service and high-quality stone for every project, both large and small. We guide you through every step of the process and our expertise and product variety will ensure you receive the right stone products to meet your individual specification. You will deal with the same people from initial enquiry through to after-sales care ensuring your customer experience is consistent and unrivalled.

The Home of
Angus Sandstone

Denfind Stone is the sole source of Angus sandstone, preserving a distinctive, sustainable and durable material refined through over three centuries of production and innovation. From its quarry and purpose-built facility in the heart of Angus, it produces unique stone products used in thousands of structures across the UK and around the world.

Our Angus sandstone can be used for walling and paving products.

 Our Historical Past

Angus sandstone has been formed over 400 million years and was then shaped by 300 years of quarrying and innovation into the material used today. After the original quarries became obsolete, Pitairlie Quarry was reopened in 2004 and is the only producer of Angus sandstone products today. This stone has been used on prestigious buildings worldwide, including Cologne Cathedral and the Vatican, thanks to Scottish stonemasons’ reputation and industry-driven innovation in techniques and transport.

It’s been amazing being able to incorporate Denfind stone walling and paving within the Broughty Ferry projects. The characteristics of the stone blends in perfectly with the natural stone in the Conservation area.
